Tottenham complete loan signing of former Chelsea star
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of forward Timo Werner from RB Leipzig on an initial loan.
The Lilywhites announced on Tuesday evening that the Germany international had joined the club on loan for the remainder of the current campaign, subject to international clearance.
Spurs will then have the option to make the move permanent for an undisclosed fee.
Werner, 27, has fallen out of favour at Leipzig this season with teammate Lois Openda having been in remarkable form for the German outfit.
He first joined Leipzig from fellow German side Stuttgart back in 2016 and enjoyed a remarkable first spell with the club.
Werner was particularly impressive during the 2019/20 season, when he scored 34 goals and provided 13 assists in 45 matches across all competitions.
That form prompted Premier League giants Chelsea to move for the attacker, and he completed a move to Stamford Bridge during the summer of 2020.

Despite showing glimpses of his best in London, Werner struggled to recreate the form he had displayed in Germany and scored a total of 23 goals in 89 games for the Blues.
Following Todd Boehly’s takeover of the club and subsequent spending spree, Werner rejoined Leipzig in 2022 and scored 16 times in 44 games last term.
Despite his relatively uninspiring spell in West London, Werner did win the Champions League, Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup during his time with Chelsea.
He has struggled to establish himself as Leipzig’s first choice forward this season, though, largely due to the incredible form of Openda who has netted 11 times in 16 Bundesliga games so far.
