A full, behind-the-scenes look at the 2022 FIFA World Cup is now on hand for football fans across the world to enjoy.

Netflix has released the trailer for Captains of the World, giving fans an all-access pass to the biggest stars, teams, and fanbases throughout the global game.

With Lionel Messi leading Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar, Netflix will give fans a comprehensive look at his team’s journey, plus additional looks at many of the other superstars at the tournament. The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, and Luka Modric are just some of those who appear in the trailer.

Where to watch, stream Captains of the World documentary

Captains of the World is available globally on the streaming service Netflix, in collaboration with FIFA’s own streaming service FIFA+. 

“From the locker room to the pitch, this docuseries offers exclusive access to all 32 teams as they fight for football glory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup,” the Netflix blurb for the show reads.

Produced by Fulwell 73, who were also credited on the critically acclaimed Netfilx football documentary Sunderland Til I Die, interviews with the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, and Mbappe are teased in the show’s trailer, as well as many other stars. 

When is Captains of the World released on Netflix?

Captains of the World, the Netflix documentary detailing the 2022 FIFA World Cup, will see its first episode released on Saturday, December 30, 2023.

There will be six episodes in the docuseries with all of them dropping at once.
