Australia’s electric vehicle adoption exploded in 2023, with many consumers making the move away from ICE vehicles to add one or more EVs to the garage.

Critical to the success of EV adoption is having great charging options at key locations to reassure potential owners they can travel without compromise.

Tesla has invested like no other Automaker in EV charging infrastructure. In 2023 alone, Tesla expanded its charging network by a massive 67% in Australia and 60% in New Zealand.

There are now more than 570 stalls with over 100 Supercharger sites across Australia and New Zealand, including the first V4 chargers at Albury, NSW as we covered in early December.

Third-party charging networks like Chargefox, Evie Networks and others also grew, but to catch up to the market leader, they’ll need to dramatically accelerate their rollouts.

Many are missing the fact that Tesla is rapidly becoming an electricity supplier in Australia, the modern-day BP or Shell service station to support road trips and holidays with our family and friends.

Since getting my Model 3 in 2019, the road between Sydney and Melbourne has fundamentally changed. There are now locations in Sydney, Goulburn, Gundagai, Yass, Holbrook, Albury, Wodonga, Wangaratta, Euroa, Kilmore, and Melbourne offering multiple locations to stop and charge along the way.

In 2023, we expanded our Supercharger network by 67% in AU and 60% in NZ
