Extremely hot conditions are expected in at least two provinces.

The South African Weather Service has warned of extremely hot temperatures and high fire danger conditions over parts of the Western Cape and Northern Cape.

Otherwise, partly cloudy to cloudy conditions and warm to hot temperatures are expected over most of the country.

Impact-based warning

A Yellow Level 2 warning has been issued for severe thunderstorms with possible heavy downpours, severe lightning, large hail and strong damaging winds over the western parts of KwaZulu-Natal, eastern Free State, and eastern interior of the Eastern Cape.

Fire danger warning

Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in places over the Namakwa District in the Northern Cape, as well as the Cederberg Municipality, Cape Winelands, and Central Karoo in the Western Cape.

Advisory 

Extremely hot and uncomfortable humid conditions are expected over the Central and Little Karoo in the Western Cape.

Gauteng is expected to be partly cloudy with warm to hot temperatures and scattered showers and thundershowers.

The expected UVB sunburn index is high.

Morning fog patches are forecasted along the escarpment of Mpumalanga, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm conditions with scattered showers and thundershowers are expected, with isolated showers on the Lowveld.

Limpopo will have morning fog patches along the southern escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool to warm temperatures with isolated showers and thundershowers are expected.

This excludes the extreme north-east of the province, where scattered showers are forecasted in the central to southern parts.

Partly cloudy and warm to hot conditions are forecasted for the North West, with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Scattered showers are expected in the east of the province, where it will be cloudy.

The Free State will have morning fog patches in the east, where it will be cloudy.

Otherwise, partly cloudy, and warm to hot temperatures are forecasted, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the extreme east.

Fine conditions in the central interior and the southern parts until late morning are expected over the Northern Cape, otherwise it will be partly cloudy and hot to very hot.

Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected in the north and north-east of the province.

Along the coast of the province, it will be cloudy with morning fog.

The wind along the coast will be a light to moderate north-westerly to westerly.

The Western Cape will have morning fog along the west coast, and cloudy conditions along the south coast.

Otherwise, partly cloudy to fine conditions with warm to hot but extremely hot temperatures are expected over parts of the eastern interior.

The wind along the coast will be a moderate to fresh north-westerly but easterly along the south coast, becoming south-westerly from the afternoon.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.

Cloudy with fog in places in the south at first is forecasted for the western half of the Eastern Cape.

Otherwise, fine to partly cloudy conditions and hot to very hot temperatures with isolated thundershowers are expected in places in the northern and eastern interior.

It will be warm along the coast.

The wind along the coast will be a fresh to strong easterly, but moderate west of St Francis, becoming moderate westerly from the west in the evening.

The eastern half of the province will have fog in places south of the escarpment at first.

Otherwise, partly cloudy to cloudy conditions and warm temperatures with isolated thundershowers are expected over the central and northern interior but scattered along the escarpment.

The wind along the coast will be a fresh to strong north-easterly.

KwaZulu-Natal will have morning fog over the interior of the province.

Otherwise, partly cloudy and warm temperatures with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers but scattered are expected in the west.

The wind along the coast will be a gentle south-easterly in the extreme north at first. Otherwise, a moderate easterly to north-easterly.

The expected UVB sunburn index is extreme.
