Sexually assaulted, psychically ambushed, robbed of their belongings and threatened with knives or sharp objects – these are just some of the attacks suffered by public healthcare workers at the hands of patients.
More than 150 healthcare workers, including security personnel, were attacked at more than 70 public health facilities in the country, according to Health Minister Joe Phaahla.
This was revealed in a written response to questions from the DA’s Michele Clarke in Parliament last month.
