The Brazilians eventually took the lead three minutes before the break when Tau curled home a fine free free-kick from around 20-yards out.

Mosimane withdrew Oupa Manyisa for Lucky Mohomi on 82 minutesg.
Stars did pull a goal back in stoppage courtesy of a fine header from Vilakazi, but Sundowns managed to hold on for the victory.
Tau gave the traveling fans an encouraging message to fans.
