As Kaizer Chiefs remain in the hunt for new striker, Pitso Mosimane, Mamelodi Sundowns coach has dropped a bombshell on the Soweto giants by revealing how he offered them Leonardo Castro and why they did not sign him.

”Kaizer Chiefs were offered Leonardo Castro by Mamelodi Sundowns but failed to come up with the cash Masandawana wanted,” said Pitso.

”The teams had reached an agreement but Amakhosi failed to pay uP,”’he stated.

”I don’t know if they are broke or something but they just couldn’t pay up,” he concluded.

It has emerged that Sundowns only registered the Colombian forward on the last day of the transfer window because they had been waiting on the Glamour Boys to pay up and take him to Naturena.

Although he didn’t mention any figures but media report suggests the transfer fee demanded by the Brazilians was a little steep and that could be the reason Amakhosi withdrew their interest.

”Amakhosi manager Bobby Motaung wanted Castro but i assume coach Steve Komphela was not too keen on the 28-year-old striker and he did not let Bobby know of his availability.

”You can’t get Catro for free as usual because he is a World class striker,” Pitso concluded.

Castro has struggled for game time at Chloorkop and is reportedly unhappy and wants out of the club.

Many Kaizer Chiefs fans are asking for Komphela to be axed after a poor start to the new season.
