Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba was born 6 August on 1950. He is a South African football manager and former player.

He was previously the manager of the Swaziland national side, where he was appointed in May 2008.

Mashaba has previously managed the South African national side, but was sacked from the team on the eve of the 2004 African Cup of Nations in January 2004 after previously having been suspended.

Mashaba has also managed club sides Vaal Reef Stars and Black Leopards.

He was appointed as manager of the South African national team in July 2014. He was suspended for disciplinary reasons in November 2016 and was sacked for misconduct in December 2016.

He failed in his attempt to appeal the decision.

After Bafana Bafana disappointing defeat in Cape Verde, Mashaba has launched a devastating attack on the National team coach Stuart Baxter that could make him lose his job if properly investigated.

Stuart Baxter and his Bafana Bafana team were simply poor capitulating to a 2-1 2018 World Cup qualifying defeat against Cape Verde in Praia on Friday night.

Tokelo Rantie’s 14th-minute strike seemed to indicate the win in Cape Verde. SA needed to take control of the group was attainable.

It was downhill from there with Nuno Rocha 33rd-minute equaliser and penalty in the 38th.

Out-of-form centre back Mulomowandau Mathoho, after a patchy first half, suffered a second red card in the space of nine days in the 68th for a rash, unnecessary foul at a stage where Bafana were trying to work their way from the back foot back.

Mashaba accused Baxter of being partial and always favouring Kaizer Chiefs players who saved his career at Amakhosi when he was always on the spotlight.

”Mathoho was dismissed in the seventh minute of Kaizer Chiefs’ 2-1 league defeat against SuperSport United in his last game.

”How do you select such a player with the dept of talent in the squad,” asked Mashaba.

” Mulomowandau Mathoho is out-of-form, his first half explains it all, how can you get two red cards in 9 days,” asked Mashaba.

”As long as Baxter is in charge of Bafana Bafana, Kaizer Chiefs past and present players will always get preferential treatment because they contributed in saving his job at chiefs when things were tough for him.

”I don’t want to mention names, but there are lots of Kaizer Chiefs players who are guaranteed a starting place as long as they are fit regardless of their form,” charged the sacked coach.

SAFA has promised to look into the allegations and if found guilty, Baxter could be in serious trouble that could terminate his Bafana Bafana contract.
