The race to succeed President Zuma as the President of the ruling party has taken a new turn that has kept many South Africans wondering what could be the faith of the party come 2019.
It’s now obvious the battle is between Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Cyril Ramaphosa.
Already, the ANC 54th National Conference has been scheduled. It will take place in Gauteng from 16th to 20th December 2017.
The next President of the party will emerge in the conference and, fake ANC membership cards are being produced in mass to influence the outcome of the ruling party’s leadership contest.
This is according to one of the party’s Councillors in KwaZulu-Natal. The Councillor reportedly divulged that not fewer than 4,000 fake membership cards have been produced for the sole purpose of rigging the December ANC elective conference.
The KwaZulu-Natal Councillor, Nqaba Mkhwanazi made this revelation yesterday when he appeared before the Moerane Commission. The Commission is investigating the cause of the increasing political killings in the province.
Mkhwanazi hinted that the province might experience more political killings as the ANC 54th National Conference approaches. The Councillor pointed out that there’s increasing tension between the supporters of Zuma’s ex-wife and Mr. Ramaphosa.
Fake ANC membership cards, the Councillor said, have been linked to different branches of the ANC Youth League. The cards are meant to enable the rigging of the party’s leadership contest. If this is not effectively dealt with, it will escalate the level of intolerance among members of the party, the councilor warned.
Commenting on the claims about fake ANC membership cards, the party’s provincial spokesperson, Mdumiseni Ntuli promised that the matter will be looked into. Ntuli was quoted to have said:
