The disgraced former Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training Mduduzi Manana pleaded guilty in court on the assault scandal that involved two women.

The ANC MP, who resigned from his post as the Deputy Minister appeared at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court today.

He faced charges of assault brought against him by Mandisa Duma, the woman he hit at Cubana Lounge in Fourways, Johannesburg.

The victim of the assault, Duma took to social media to share images of her bruised face and neck and describing the attack.

Fikile Mbalula the Minister of Police later stated that Manana would be arrested and face the criminal charges.

Though he was not arrested, Manana did appear in court, and was released on bail of R5 000.

He has since apologised to the victim, her family, the ANC and the entire country at alrge. He also issued a statement saying he is seeking counselling.
