After several bouts of incredulous intimation and attack directed the the dissident ANC MP and her family, the  brave and outspoken African National Congress  (ANC) parliamentarian Makhosi Khoza has been redeployed in Parliament after her party axed her as chairperson of the Public Service and Administration Committee. Her move to the Economic Development Oversight Committee was announced in parliamentary papers on Tuesday.

Her move to the Economic Development Oversight Committee was announced in parliamentary papers on Tuesday.

Khoza has claimed that her removal as chairperson was retribution for publicly supporting the secret ballot used during the recent failed motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma.

Khoza’s abrupt removal as chairperson of the committee responsible for holding Minister Faith Muthambi and her department to account followed three crucial developments in Parliament.

First, the Democratic Alliance-led motion of no confidence in the president was defeated after which five ANC members of Khoza’s committee refused to work with her and boycotted a meeting.

In their absence, Khoza and the remaining Members of Parliament agreed to summons Muthambi to appear before the committee to answer to claims that she wasted public funds on friends and family. It’s unclear whether the summons will be issued.

ANC Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu’s office said Khoza was removed because of an irreconcilable breakdown in relations between her and committee members.
