Some South Africans are actually worried about the challenges facing the country’s main opposition party the Democratic Alliance (DA).

The DA’s former leader Helen Zille and the incumbent leader Mmusi Maimane have been engulfed in serious issues. The Western Cape Premiers made some strong colonial tweets which the DA and Maimane is saying that her comment is tarnishing the image and vision of the party.

Aside of this, Helen Zille has become the latest government official to join Gupta’s dirty game of manipulating politicians to gain control of government.
Leaked e-mail report has revealed that Helen Zille visited Gupta family home in Saxonwold to collect a cheque totaling to R300 000.
Also revealed is Helen Zille’s letter thanking the Gupta’s for a donation and their patronage.
Zille first denied this but when cornered by journalists, she tried to make a lighter moment of it.
In her own admission Zille said:
“I and my colleague Ian Davidson duly went to the Guptas’ home, ate some of the most delicious food I have ever eaten, and received the cheque for R300 000” she said.
“Because we had been guests at the Gupta’s home, our fundraising department included our standard letter of thanks to the Guptas,” Zille said.
Zille later sent a letter to Atul Gupta thanking him for the cheque.

A letter is doing the rounds purportedly showing a letter addressed to the Gupta’s and signed by then DA leader Helen Zille.

In the letter, dated 25 May 2009, Helen Zille thanks a certain Mr Gupta for the ‘generous donation’ and goes on to explain in detail how the donation had helped the DA in getting more votes compared to the 2004 elections.

Part of the letter reads : ‘Your financial contribution helped us to achieve our three key objectives in the recent elections’ then goes on to list the three objectives which were :

  • Keeping the ANC below a two thirds majority.
  • Significantly consolidating our (DA) position as the official opposition and,
  • Winning an outright majority in the Western Cape.
