Struggle stalwart, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela has opened a case of theft after discovering her R83 000 birthday cash gift had gone missing on Thursday.

Police stationed at the Orlando East police station confirmed that the former first lady had indeed opened a case at the station earlier in the day but would not be drawn into giving further details.

Mama Winnie this week celebrated her 80th birth with many politicians and dignitaries in attendance paying tribute to her.

However, ”The Mother of the Nation – Winnie Madikizela-Mandela” discovered the money was missing when she took her bag out of the wardrobe at her home to take some of the money and buy some things she needed.

The 80-year-old had allegedly received money amounting to R83 000 as a birthday gift from families, friends and well wishers. She had allegedly planned to deposit the money at a bank soon before the money was stolen.

Police is now investigating the robbery but no arrests has been made. All the employees working at Winnie’s home are due for police questioning.
