Congress of the People (COPE) has revealed a new theory on how team Zuma plans to get rid of Pravin Gordhan.
The party said the latest attacks on Gordhan coupled with calls to remove him from office are all orchestrated by the Pres. Zuma’s administration.
Subsequently, plans are also in place to replace him with Nkosazana Dlamini-Zumaas speculated by COPE.
COPE spokesman Dennis Bloem in a statement made on Saturday claims to have received information from reliable sources that a cabinet reshuffle will soon be done. This will serve as an avenue to get rid of Gordhan and replace him with Dlamini-Zuma.
The party went on to allege that the brains behind this “destructive agenda” were the “ANCWL‚ ANCYL‚ the Premier League and of course, the Guptas”.
“Congress of the People is reliably informed by well-placed ANC members that [a] cabinet reshuffle is imminent and that Zuma will remove Gordhan and replace him with Dlamini-Zuma as finance minister.
“We have also learned that Minister Derek Hanekom will be replaced by Gordhan and Hanekom will become an ordinary back bencher in Parliament‚” COPE spokesman Dennis Bloem said.
Also, Bloem didn’t mince words in suggesting that Zuma is making every effort necessary to prep Dlamini-Zuma to take over power from him at the end of his term.
“This move to elevate Dlamini-Zuma as finance minister is a move by Zuma to prepare her to take over as president of the ANC and hopefully of the country‚” he added.
Bloem blatantly accused “Zuma and his vultures” of making all possible efforts to loot the National Treasury. However, he assured the president that they will not fold their arms and watch him ruin the economy and the image of the country. In other words, they have declared support for the finance minister while he’s politically attacked.
