The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, Islamic State, and by its Arabic language acronym Daesh, is a Salafi jihadist militant group and unrecognised proto-state that follows a fundamentalist, Wahhabi doctrine of Sunni Islam.

This group has been designated a terrorist organisation by the United Nations and many individual countries.

ISIL is widely known for its videos of beheadings of both soldiers and civilians, including journalists and aid workers, and its destruction of cultural heritage sites.

The group proclaimed itself a worldwide caliphate and began referring to itself as Islamic State or IS in June 2014. As a caliphate, it claims religious, political, and military authority over all Muslims worldwide.

ISIL is now believed to be operational in 18 countries across the world, including South Africa and Nigeria with “aspiring branches” in Mali, Egypt, and Somalia.

As of 2015, ISIL was estimated to have an annual budget of more than US$1 billion and a force of more than 30,000 fighters.

There is an unconfirmed report making waves on social media that IS is about to blow up Pres. Jacob Zuma’s Nkandla homestead in Kwazulu-Natal.

A picture of a military Helicopter blowing up Nkandla has gone viral on social media.

Rumor has  it that the IS is out to deal with African leaders who intend to hold power for a long time while their people suffer. Top on their wishlist is Pres. Zuma, Robert Mugabe (Zim)and Muhammadu Buhari (Nigeria)

The Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula has been asked by concerned citizens to beef up security at the President’s private home to be ready in case anything comes up.

Hinnews.com has called Jackson Mthembu the ANC chief whip for comments and confirmation on the rumour but he is not picking up his calls.
