Pres. Zuma wives are arguably the most talked about women in the country. But who are the women that gave Zuma and the country his 22 children?

So far, the country’s first citizen has had six marriages but currently has four wives .

They are Sizakele Khumalo-Zuma, Kate Zuma, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Nompumelelo Ntuli-Zuma, Bongi Ngema-Zuma and Thobeka Madiba-Zuma.

She is the president’s first wife and childhood sweetheart. She is 76 years-old.

Khumalo met Zuma in 1959 and the two started a relationship, but they were separated when Zuma was arrested in 1963 and sentenced to 10 years in prison. Zuma and Khumalo were married after he was released in 1973, and in 1975 Zuma went into exile leaving Khumalo behind. The couple have no children.

Kate Mantsho-Zuma


Kate died in 2000 allegedly after overdosing of sleeping pills and malaria drugs. They were married for 18 years when she died.

She was born on September 2, 1956, Alexandra, Gauteng. Died: December 8, 2000, Pretoria.
Kate and Pres Zuma got married in 1976.
She had five children with the president out of the 22 children : Duduzane Zuma, Duduzile Zuma, Phumzile Zuma, Mxolisi Zuma, Nhlakanipho Vusi Zuma.

Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma



Married to Zuma in the 1980s but divorced in 1998.

Had four children in her marriage to Zuma.

She is the Chairperson of African Union and former Health Minister. She is poised to become the next president of South Africa. The rumours are also fueled by news that she will be stepping down as the AU chair.

Nompumelelo Ntuli-Zuma


Married the president in 2008 and was born in 1975. Out of Pres. Zuma’s 22 children she made three: Manqoba Kholwani Zuma, Thandisiwe Zuma, Sinqobile Zuma.

MaNtuli has been embroiled in a lot of scandals which involves an alleged affair with her bodyguard that died in an apparent suicide.

She has however bounced back into the positive side of things when Zuma’s painting of his genitalia surfaced. She went out to protect his image by participating in protests.

She focuses on social development and works with vulnerable children. She has three of her own children with Zuma.

She was cast out of the house in January 2015 amid rumours of a plot to poison the president.

Thobeka Madiba-Zuma.


She is Zuma’s most newest wife, they got married in 2010. She was born in 1973, in Durban.

She is a University of Zululand graduate who has a great fashion sense. She is known for her activity on social media, especially Instagram where she showcases her designer outfits.

She made three children with Pres. Zuma out of the 22.

She established a Tobeka Madiba Zuma Foundation that assists the impoverished and is also active in the fight against breast cancer.

Bongi Ngema-Zuma


Regarded as Zuma’s most prominent wife for she is the one accompanying him on most of his international trips.

She got married to the president in 2012. She is Pres. Zuma fourth wife.

She is known for her activity in fighting against diabetes.

Bongi was given an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Shaw University in the United States.
