EFF MP Tebogo Mokwele is currently going through the mills in a hospital after she was manhandled by security officials belonging to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) yesterday.
The fighter’s woes began moments after she hurled insults at President Zuma in Parliament. Zuma, appeared before the National Council of Provinces to answer questions from MP, as obliged by the constitution.
“Honourable Zuma cannot be allowed to address parliament as he has violated his oath of office. Zuma is not competent enough to lead this country,” Mokwele shouted.
Appalled by her inordinate speech, Chairperson of the NCOP Thandi Modise instructed Parliament security personnel to carry her out of the building, saying “no amount of filibustering will help the fighters today.”
Mokwele’s colleague Younus Vawda stood on a point of order to argue her case but was also asked to leave the House immediately. Another fighter, MP Vusiwana Mtileni, followed suit as the fighter was dragged out of the chamber by six Parliamentary security personnel.
Not long after that, other EFF members were shown the exit door for obstructing Zuma’s free speech flow and calling him names, including EFF MP Nkagisang Koni.
EFF’s Shivambu later took to Facebook, where he posted a picture of EFF MP Mokwele as she was being taken to the hospital.
EFF expressed sadness over the attitude of Parliament security personnel; describing them as thieves and criminals whose only concern was protecting Zuma.
Deputy president of the EFF Floyd Shivambu also vowed to fight back following the assault.
“Jacob Zuma’s parliamentary thugs & criminals have assaulted Commissar Tebogo Mokwele. We will fight them to them to the bitter end. No retreat!, Shivambu thundered.
It’s becoming abundantly clear that insulting Zuma in parliament is a thing of the past as the security officials are ever ready to bundle out anyone who disturbs Zuma’s peace.
