Moestoneng’s appointed as group executive in charge of corporate affairs by the South African Broadcasting Corporation board has been criticised by many including the African National Congress (ANC).

The matter was under discussion at the DA’s two-day Federal Executive meeting in Cape Town.

The party’s leader Mmusi Maimane says Motsoeneng has been found to be dishonest and unfit to hold a position of authority.

“Yet despite all of this the SABC board is making the decision to say they will retain him for reasons unknown to him and the minister of communications has given him her absolute nod of approval.”

DA Federal chair James Selfe says the SABC board appear before Parliament next week.

“We’re going to wait until the portfolio committee has had its meeting on Wednesday. If we are unsatisfied by aspects of that process we will have no hesitation in approaching the courts.”
