Despite the numerous unsavory upheavals and turmoil cascading the landscape of South Africa in the past week, good tidings and merriment are in the offing for a democratic icon in the Country.

Hinnewssa can authoritatively report that former president Thabo Mbeki is expected to be inaugurated as chancellor of University of South Africa on Monday morning.

Mbeki replaces Judge Bernand Nguepe who served as chancellor for fifteen years.

The university says it’s excited about the value Mbeki’s stature and intellectual standing will add to the institution.

Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande and Vice Chancellor Professor Mandla Makhanya will be amongst the speakers.
