One of three remaining ANC members who were part of the Rivonia trial, Denis Goldberg has bared it all on why some senior members of the ruling party took to the public to vent their anger.
According to Goldberg, the frustrated members went public simply because “the ANC refused to listen”.
He divulged that on several occasions, the ruling party refused to listen to member’s concerns when raised. He said at other times, the leadership downplayed or bluntly pushed them off – in a bid to protect Zuma.
“You don’t want to listen to us, who will you listen to? We will go public. You don’t want to hear us, so we will be part of this growing stream of people saying enough is enough,” he told reporters.
He said those who expressed their bitterness in public are not against the ANC, rather, they were people who could no longer swallow the shame.
On Gordhan’s long-running battle with Hawks and NPA, Mthembu said the finance minister’s charges are being politically motivated. He reiterated his earlier remarks that he would support Gordhan who is due to appear in court on November 2.
ANC Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu, other people including 101 long-standing ANC members has taken to the public to vent their dissatisfaction with the ANC-Zuma led administration . The group on Thursday asked the Zuma-led administration to change its ways to regain society’s trust.
Rivonia Trial defendant Denis Goldberg, former National Assembly speaker Frene Ginwala, and former ministers Trevor Manuel, Essop Pahad, and Siphiwe Nyanda amongst others form part of the group.
