Two suspects, a man and a woman both aged 21 were arrested in Western Cape after police found numerous bags containing Mandrax tablets worth about R900,000 in their home.

Police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said;

“Following an investigation into alleged illegal drug activity at a residence in Mandalay‚ a search warrant was obtained which was executed by the Gugulethu Stabilisation Unit last night at 20:20.

“The members entered the premises in Wessel Street and noticed a male throwing a bag into a dog kennel. After removing the bag the members found plastic bags containing Mandrax tablets therein‚” said police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana.

“Upon searching the entire premises the members recovered numerous bags containing thousands of Mandrax tablets in the boot of a BMW that was parked in the garage. The Mandrax tablets are estimated at R900 000 street value‚” Rwexana said.

“Two suspects‚ both aged 21‚ were arrested and will appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of dealing in drugs‚ Rwexana added.
