Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said: “Protesters are burning tyres and have placed rocks at the intersection of Main Reef Rd and Commando Rd, Riverlea. This is affecting traffic from Roodepoort as well from Soweto. Motorists should use alternative routes.”

Minnaar added: “Reasons for protests is not yet clear”.
