South African Police Minister Fikile Mbalula has promised the country that his ministry will investigate the shooting of a teen boy.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has started investigation on the case of attempted murder by a police during a protest in Hout Bay.
A 14 year old boy was shot at least four times at point-blank range when he left his home and walked 3km to watch the protest at Hangberg.
Moses Dlamini a representative of IPID said that the law enforcement department have not received any report of the incident after it gave an instruction to “find out what was happening”.
“A case of attempted murder was registered. We will be looking into the possibility of opening another case for failure to report to IPID,” Dlamini said.
Captain FC Van Wyk a police official has advised Ona’s mother “to come forward to open a criminal case to be investigated”.
