Four people have died and one other seriously injured after a head-on collision between two SUV’s on the N12 between Klerksdorp and Wolmaransstad in the North West on Thursday.
Paramedics arrived the scene to found both wrecked vehicles in the middle of the road. Both vehicles had sustained a large amount of damage in the collision.
“Paramedics found a man and woman lying trapped in the first SUV while another man and woman were lying trapped in the second vehicle. All four patients showed no signs of life,” according to paramedics Spokesperson Russel Mering.
On assessment, four patients had already succumbed to their multiple fatal injuries and were declared dead on scene.
A fifth patient, a woman, was found lying trapped inside one of the SUV’s in a serious condition. She was later transported to Wolmaransstad Hospital for urgent treatment.
The cause of the incident is still unknown as local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
