Information reaching us from the South African Police Service (SAPS) has it that a drug laboratory has been busted in Limpopo.
As learnt, machines, equipment and chemicals worth an estimated street value of R10 million were confiscated.
The bust follows a Crime Intelligence Driven operation the police in Groblersdal Cluster conducted.
SAPS related that the operation which involved the Provincial Crime Intelligence, Groblersdal Crime Intelligence, the K9, members from the Forensic Department and the DPCI, led to the discovery of the drug laboratory with different equipment, bags of mandrax powder and stolen vehicles.
According to SAPS two suspects aged 26 and 39 were arrested. Another two suspects managed to escape arrest, SAPS listed that the items below were confiscated.
- 2 stolen motor vehicles – Ford meteor and Nissan NP300. The vehicle were reported stolen in January 2009 in Thabazimbi.
- Equipment for the manufacturing of Mandrax tablets. All equipment have an estimated value R2 million
- One presser machine
- One mixer machine
- Industrial stoves
- Different chemicals that are utilized to make mandrax.
- Five bags containing mandrax powder, each weighing 25kg. The total estimated street value of the mandrax powder is R10 million.
- Cash amount of R29 820
While more arrests are expected, the arrested suspects will soon, appear before Moutse Magistrate court. There, they will face charges of manufacturing and dealing in drugs and possession of stolen vehicles.
