An 11-year-old girl was found stabbed to death next to Lawley Fire Station over the weekend, a Dobsonville police spokesperson said.
The child had been playing with her friends in the area.
The perpetrators of the act left a knife in her stomach.
Police spokesperson Constable Mzwakhe Xazi, said they were informed of the incident around 19:00 on Sunday.
The child was identified and her family informed. However, Xazi said he was not at liberty to reveal more information.
Xazi appealed to parents to make sure that they always knew the whereabouts of their children, and said they should check on them regularly.
“We request parents to be very vigilant with children. They should watch over them and make sure that they are safe,” said Xazi.
A case of murder had been opened and no arrests have been made.
