There has been a loud call from some of the Pirates fans begging the club to bring back Sredojevic to steer the ship but Benson Mhlongo, who worked with both Micho and Rhulani Mokwena as a third assistant, believes that would only destabilise the camp.

“No, I think Rhulani is doing well, honestly. I think they should stick to coach Rhulani,” Mhlongo tells

“Others are being given two, three seasons in their clubs, let’s give him a chance also. They are playing very well, it’s just luck of scoring goals… but ja, I think he deserves a chance.”

‘Mayanga’ believes the supporters and the club management should take a leaf out of Kaizer Chiefs’ book and learn from their Soweto rivals before deciding anything on the Micho situation.

“Ja let’s learn from Chiefs. The Chiefs chairman Kaizer [Motaung] stood firm for [Ernst] Middendorp, now he’s getting the results. So he must stick with the team for a year or two and let’s see,” he explains.

“It will disturb the momentum [hiring Micho]… Micho went for greener pastures, isn’t that so? Coach Rhulani took over, so let him continue. He is doing well, Pirates is doing well.

“It’s just that converting and at the back… but they are doing well. I think it’s time we give our own a chance, let him continue. Let’s not look at his age, he’s doing well as a coach, let him continue.”
