Kaizer Chiefs legend Rudolf ‘Gardner’ Seale believes the club doesn’t need to visit the transfer market again this month and can win the league with the current squad.

Amakhosi recently released Lorenzo Gordinho to allow him to join Bidvest Wits and also swapped like for like as Ghanaian midfielder James Kotei was let go and replaced by Kenyan star Anthony Akumu.

But before consecutive 3-0 wins over Highlands Park and Cape Town City, the log leaders dropped five valuable points as they drew with hoodoo team Maritzburg United and lost to SuperSport United.

Seale believes that was just a phase, and feels that even in defence Ernst Middendorp’s squad has enough quality to finish the job.

“It was expected [the SuperSport result]. If you look at the records, Kaizer Chiefs versus SuperSport, from my days at SuperSport it has never been easy for Chiefs just to walk freely against SuperSport,” the former left-back tells KickOff.com.

“So it was very tough. I think the reason why we are saying they are thin at the back, some players are not competing enough to fight for their positions.

“Where we are seated, it looks like their squad is thin at the back. I think in my opinion they’ve got players, it’s just that we always see the same back four over and over again.

“I’m not particularly pinpointing [Kgotso] Moleko but as an example, together with the likes of [Siphosakhe] Ntiya-Ntiya they must just come to the party and compete against the regulars of the team.

“So I’m for the idea of saying ‘you cannot sign players on top of players’ you see. I think it’s a good idea not to sign players. The other players must just compete.”
