Here are top 5 things you should like about our newly elected Mayor.

1. Honesty.

Being honest can sometimes be difficult because it makes individuals vulnerable.  Honesty reveals who we really are and discloses our mistakes, which gives others the opportunity to criticize .  Honesty develops character and builds credibility and trust, which are the foundation to evoke confidence and respect from those around you, and in the case of Msimanga, he has shown great level of Honesty by trying to bring to book those responsible for creating what he calls “Nkandla 2.0”, referring to wasteful expenditure on renovations of the Pretoria City Hall.

2. Compassion

Compassion is the humane quality of understanding the suffering of others and wanting to do something to alleviate that suffering. While many see compassion as a weakness, true compassion is a characteristic that converts knowledge to wisdom.  Mayor Msimanga has used compassion to see the needs of those he leads and to determine the course of action that would be of greatest benefit to all those involved.

Mayor Msimanga put a stop to all inaugural parties and catered inaugural events for Tshwane’s new executive, including celebratory dinners and lunches which he said only benefited politicians and not the public.  He showed compassion by directing the money be used to alleviate poverty in the municipal.

3. Integrity.

The word integrity is defined as ‘the adherence to moral and ethical principles; the soundness of moral character.’  . The Mayor possess integrity and can be trusted.

The Mayor noted he would put an immediate stop to all purchasing or leasing of luxury cars for politicians, including himself.   Not all politicians can show that level of integrity.

4. Confidence.

Having confidence in the Mayor is about having belief that he will act in a right, proper, and effective way. He has shown confidence in himself by  Banning blue lights in His city. Msimanga said the days of government officials criss-crossing the capital city with police escorts flashing blue lights are over.  That shows his ability to lead.

5.  Flexibility.
