Top member of the African National Congress (ANC) Thembinkosi Zoleka, has been gunned down by unknown men.
This is according to state police who are at the moment investigating the death of the ANC PR councillor. He was gunned down on Thursday night.
Zoleka represent the party in the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. He was a PR councillor for Ray Nkonyeni Municipality.
Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala, who spoke to the media on the case said Margate police was called out to Phillip Road just before 00:00 hour where they found Thembinkosi Zoleka lying lifeless.
“They proceeded to a scene where they found the body of a 47-year-old man inside the residential premises with gunshot wounds to the head. The motive for the killing and the suspects are unknown. Investigation is continuing.”
Zoleka will be the fourteenth – or more- member of the ANC killed in one year. Twelve of the party leaders were killed just few months before the commencement of the August 3 Local Government election.
No arrests has been made so far.
