ANC election head in the Western Cape Ebrahin Rasool says the first case of expropriation without compensation in the province might be in Hermanus. He was speaking to the SABC on the sidelines of the party’s provincial land summit in Stellenbosch.
The aim of the summit is to look at ways of expropriating land in a balanced way by looking at the right of those who have land as well as those dispossessed.
Rasool says the piece of land which led to all the unrest at Zwelihle Township in Hermanus was sold by the local government for five million rand.
He says now the developer wants to sell it for 85 million rand.
