Sasol is no doubt one of Africa’s largest companies by size, workforce and revenue. The company have just moved into a rooftop garden, a state-of-the art fitness centre, cafés and an art gallery are just a few features of Sasol’s new multi-billion rand head office in Sandton.

According to reports, over 2 000 staff of the company have moved into the new Sasol Place on Katherine Street in the last few weeks.

The company previously maintained 17 offices in Johannesburg alone.

But after considering 22 site proposals, the company in March 2013 selected the Sasol Pension Fund and its partners – the Elixir Trust and Alchemy Properties – to co-own, develop and lease the new head office in Katherine Street.

The 11-storey, 47m tall office complex has 67 000 square metres of rentable area, almost 100 000 square metres of basement parking for over 3 000 cars, and more than 3 000 square metres of landscaping. It cost approximately R2bn to construct.
