After President Zuma reshuffled his cabinet, there has been lots of calls for him to resign. That cabinet reshuffling brought about the axing of former Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and his Deputy Mr Jonas. Many other ministers were either fired or moved.

General Gwede Mantashe, ANC Secretary General says that the recall of President Jacob Zuma is not on the agenda.

The SG has briefed the media about the national executive committee (NEC) meeting currently underway at the Saint George’s Hotel in Pretoria.

There have been growing calls for Zuma to step down after his controversial Cabinet reshuffle in April which resulted in two ratings agencies downgrading the country to junk status.

Mantashe said the agenda for the NEC meeting was discussed yesterday already and the recall of the president is not part of it.

Mantashe said he does not expect NEC members to turn on each other during the meeting.

He rubbished the claims of some people that blood will be shed on the floor.

Mantashe says the NEC started with soft issues yesterday and will deal with the hard issues today.
