President Cyril Ramaphosa’s annual salary of R3.6 million places him in the top 10 highest paid world leaders.

Stats SA has revealed that the average South African salary is R238,300 per year.

Ramaphosa’s full salary would take the average South African a full 15 years to earn. These figures are based on Stats SA statistics which account for only formal non-agriculture based employment.

Businesstech.co.za reported that another study conducted by BankservAfrica was less generous with its assessment of the average salary in South Africa. The study claimed the average South African worker received R13,621 per month after taxes and other statutory deductions.

Ramaphosa also ranks as one of the richest leaders in the world thanks to his years in the private sector. The president has a personal fortune in the region of R6.4 billion.

Briefly.co.za gathered that StatsSA revealed that the average income per month for South African employees in formal non-agriculture sectors came to R19,858 per month.
