Various political parties have welcomed the resignation of SABC board chair Professor Mbulaheni Maguvhe.
The ANC says it’s long overdue while the SACP is calling for further action.
The Porfolio Committee on Communications says it feels vindicated.
It’s maintained that Maguvhe should have resigned earlier without wasting Parliament’s time.
Last week, Maguvhe appeared before Parliament’s ad hoc committee probing the board’s fitness to hold office.
He was questioned about the controversial Multichoice deal and the appointment of Hlaudi Motsoeneng as COO.
MP’s were not impressed with his testimony.
The IFP says the broadcaster will continue to falter unless the appointment of the board is without political interference.
While no reasons have been given for Maguvhe’s resignation, the Presidency has thanked him for his service.
