Could this financial constraint be the reason for the recently proposed TV license fees for all South Africans. It is no longer news that the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has become insolvent. It however briefed Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts on its finances.
It includes multi-million Rand contracts signed with audit firm, Sakela Xabiso.
The financial strait compelled the State owned public broadcaster to request for a financial bailout to try and address some of the issues at the SABC., but last week, Communications Minister, Ayanda Dlodlo said a decision on this was yet to be made.
