On Friday, it was announced that Mgidlana had been placed on special leave pending the outcome of an investigation against him. Allegations were levelled against him by the National Health, Education, and Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu), who represents most of the legislature’s workers.After granting Secretary to parliament Gengezi Mgidlana special leave to on June 9, the presiding officers have appointed acting secretary.

The deputy secretary to Parliament Penelope Tyawa has been appointed  acting secretary to parliament, the national legislature said on Saturday.

The appointment was effective from Monday until further notice, parliament said in a brief statement.
