Pres. Zuma says he has had enough of Ms. Thuli Madonsela’s ceaseless rants and statement about him and his government.
Mr President asserted that the former Public Protector should back off and stop attacking him.
He said she ought not to be meddling in his government affairs since she has successfully handed over to her successor Busisiwe Mkhewane.
Pres. Zuma also condemned her activeness in the state capture report, insisting that she has no further role to play in the process regarding the said report.
Presidency spokesperson Bongani Ngqulunga said: “Advocate Madonsela has been quite active on commenting about it and the president in particular.
We think that she has discharged her responsibilities and she should step back and allow the constitutional and other legal processes to continue unhindered.”
Zuma also condemned the former Public Protector for releasing the transcript of the state capture audio recording. He argued that Madonsela’s conduct has serious implications with regards to ethics, confidentiality and the protection of information gathered during investigations by the office of the Public Protector.
On Wednesday, Madonsela shocked many of her critics when she confessed that she was the one who released the audio recording of her high-profile interview with President Jacob Zuma.
Defending herself, Ms. Thuli Madonsela said she released the recording because she wanted to prove to the world that she actually gave President Zuma enough time to answer questions on state capture – Zuma severally alleged that Thuli didn’t give him sufficient time to go through the questions.
The four-hour interview centered on Zuma’s roles on the alleged state capture by the Gupta family while the transcript of the lengthy interview was allegedly leaked to South African broadcaster the eNCA.
