Over the weekend, social media was abuzz with reports that President Jacob Zuma visited the Gupta family in the plush Johannesburg suburb, in Saxonwold.
The President was said to have visited the controversial family on Friday night in a 17-car blue-light motorcade.
Until now there is no picture, video or evidence to validate the widespread speculation, but many social media users affirmed that they saw Zuma’s motorcade drove into the Gupta’s mansion.
South Africa’s renowned political analyst based in Johannesburg Justice Malala claimed that Zuma visited the family to report the outcomes of the recently-concluded ANC National Executive Committee meeting.
Malala’s tweet immediately went viral, winning over 1000 likes and 1000 retweets.
The report was also confirmed by former Gauteng premier Mbhazima Shilowa, who said he noticed Zuma’s motorcade.
Former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela’s state capture report showed that the Guptas used their association with President Jacob Zuma and especially his son, Duduzane, to corrupt the state for their own private financial benefit (and the benefit of the Zuma family).
Media reports has it that the president went to Saxonwold to solicit for help for the forth coming vote of no confidence scheduled for August 8.
