Kgalema Motlanthe while addressing a social dialogue in Durban has warned that the ANC will eventually lose its grip on power.
The former head of state said constant court challenges against the governing party negatively effected its performance in recent polls.
He said the party needed to get back in line with the constitution that it helped draft.
Motlanthe also warned against complacency and urged the ANC government to prioritise service delivery.
He said it was the only way to avoid another embarrassing defeat at the polls.
