Deputy Minister for Higher Education and Training Mduduzi Manana, 34, allegedly assaulted Mandisa Duma at a Fourways, Johannesburg, nightclub.
He has subsequently issued a public apology but said he had acted following “extreme provocation”.
Manana was granted R5 000 bail in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on two counts of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
The case was postponed to September 13.
Mzwanele Jimmy Manyi CM (SA) has condemned what the minister did by sharing how he women should be treated in South Africa.
Jimmy, a Chartered Marketer, is the CEO of GCIS and Cabinet spokesperson. He is both the former Director-General at the Department of Labour and an overall convenor of government in National Economic Development and Labour Council (Nedlac).
