Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has told African National Congress (ANC) supporters in Du Noon in the Western Cape that free education is coming.
Ramaphosa was accompanied by hundreds of residents on a walkabout in the area.
The heavily guarded Ramaphosa was almost inaccessible as he walked but he waved off his bodyguards to engage with people.
Young people told him they were struggling to finish their studies due to lack of funding.
“Free education is coming, don’t you have a bursary?” he asked.
Ramaphosa says funding is limited, but he has encouraged students to continue applying for financial aid.
President Jacob Zuma went on and told residents that the ANC had to take back the municipality the lost in the local government elections to the Democratic Alliance (DA).
