The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) national spokesperson Ndlozi Mbuyiseni took to twitter in Wednesday and tore the ruling party for arresting one of #RememberKhwezi protesters in the early hours of yesterday..
Ndlozi disclosed that, Naledi Chirwa was nabbed in her home in Mamelodi by the police for allegedly “contravening” the Fees Must Fall court order.
“Police took #NalediChirwa from her bed, next to her infant child at 5am in the morning, to terrify her so she never dares question the world,” Ndlozi posted on Twitter.
The fighter, who has been vocal in condemning police brutality on students, expressed worry over the allegation, questioning how Chirwa could have “contravened” the order when she was at home in Mamelodi.
He slammed the ANC for masterminding the arrest of the young woman for an act she did not commit. According to Ndlozi, the Zuma-led administration’s stance on the ongoing protests shows that “the state believes that violence and fear can fix anything”.
Nevertheless, the fighter asserted that the police can only end up arresting the students and not their ideas.
Meanwhile, Chirwa has long been released. She was quickly granted bail at R,1000 after she appeared before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court today.
Also on the long list of arrested students is #FeesMustFall student leader and former Wits SRC president Mcebo Dlamini. He was denied bail in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
