The Public Protector’s Chief Executive Office, Advocate Louisa Zondo has resigned.

The Public Protector’s office confirmed this on Wednesday saying the advocate handed in her resignation to the surprise of all.

The office spokesperson, Kgalalelo Masibi said, Advocate Louisa Zondo had handed in her resignation citing “personal reasons” for her departure.

Zondo referred all questions to the media spokesperson saying she was about to go into a meeting.

This latest information from the public protector’s office came at the time President Jacob Zuma officially withdrew his application to interdict the release of the state capture report compiled by the former Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela.

The office of the public Protector was surprised at the news that the president withdrew his court application on the matter

Spokesperson Oupa Segalwe said he had just seen the latest developments and would have to first consult with the new Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane before responding

Advocate Mkhwebane, who is barely a month in office, has since her appointment been overshadowed by Zuma’s application to stop the release of the report on the grounds that he was not given a chance to respond properly before it was made public.
