The IEC in Limpopo confirmed that just over 1 600 people voted in the trouble-stricken Vuwani area at yesterdays election.

The commission’s head in that province, Nkaro Mateta, said on Today this was out of a total of 44 000 registered voters.

However she emphasised that every ward voted.

In Her words:-“In one of the wards 8 votes were counted. Even if one person voted in a single ward, that vote would be counted,” she said.

The army was sent into the area for the elections as some residents threatened violence and keep the community away from the polls.

Earlier this year 27 schools were burnt down in the area because over unhappiness over municipal demarcation.
