The arrest of a bogus metro police officer in Ekurhuleni last month led to an investigation into Ekurhuleni.

That led to the arrest of a bogus metro police officer and her accomplice.
EMPD spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said that the two were arrested in Radebe Section in Katlehong.
Chief Sup Kgasago said that a metro police officer noticed a car that was causing an obstruction on Moya Street in the area.
“On approaching the vehicle to tell the driver to remove his vehicle, the officer realised that the passenger was in full metro police uniform.
“The only difference was that her boots were not official EMPD boots.
“She also failed to produce an appointment card.
“The woman then confessed that she got the uniform from the woman who was driving the car,” Chief Sup Kgasago said.
He added that both women were arrested on the scene for impersonating metro police officers and being in possession of stolen police uniforms.
EMPD’s media liaison officer, Inspector Kobedi Mokheseng, said that EMPD will wait for the SAPS investigation before a decision is taken regarding an investigation in the whole Ekurhuleni region.
“Currently no member of EMPD has been linked to this but if the SAPS investigation links any of our members, we will also do our own internal investigation. Our investigation will also determine the spread of this problem,” he said.
