The brazen criminal deed was brought to limelight, but it appears the is some level of complicity. The Hawks are trying to link criminals in South Africa who helped to lure 15 women, including a Free State model, to Malaysia.

Princess Mahlangu was brought home safely yesterday after she went to the Asian country with a group under the pretence of taking part in a beauty competition.

One person was arrested in Malaysia, with more expected to follow.

Nine days ago Mahlangu left for Kuala Lampur International Airport and a few days after arriving she posted a video on her Facebook page showing off the view from a tall building in Malaysia.

But everything changed after this video.

The Hawks’ Hangwani Mulaudzi says she called her family when the competition never happened and suspected something was wrong.

“There were people that we already linked to this case so that investigation continues.”

Mahlangu is now receiving counselling at a place of safety.
