There has been a heavy taxi accident in Durban after a ghastly collision, leading to scores of casualty. The gory clash involving some adults and several school children was very frightening, however, the accident occurred so suddenly.

A total of 19 people, the majority of them school children, were injured after a taxi crashed into another vehicle on Fisher Road in Hillcrest on Monday morning, paramedics said.

Rescue Care spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the taxi was transporting school children.

Jamieson said approximately 17 children under the age of 13 were injured.

Several patients were stabilised on the scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals.

Rescue services and other relevant authorities are on the scene.
