The men were confronted by students after suspecting them of intending to commit robbery.

Police and the ambulance were called in, but when they got to the university, students refused them entrance and threw stones at them.

Police spokesperson Mzukisi Fatyela said two of the alleged robbers were later taken to the hospital and that they are in a serious conditions.

“It took sometime for them to be rushed to the hospital, because it was difficult for the ambulance to enter the university as the students were stoning the police and the ambulance members.”

“But at the end of the day we helped them, they were taken to Bedford Hospital where they are treated now,” Fatyela said.
