Report has it that two people were killed and 11 others injured on Monday morning after a bakkie rolled on the N1 highway near Malibongwe drive in Randburg.

In a statement Netcare911 said paramedics and other services, including EMER-G-MED and City of Joburg emergency medical services, were on the scene, which occurred around 8am.

Several people were in a critical condition on the scene.

Netcare said it dispatched two helicopters from its dedicated air trauma response team to the scene to airlift a critically injured patients to a level-one trauma facility in Johannesburg for further medical care.

“The rest of the injured were being transported by ambulance to various hospitals in the area for further medical care,” Netcare said.

The highway was expected to reopened shortly and the cause of the accident was being investigated.
